A gallery for contemporary Swiss art with expertise in exhibition management and art consultancy— the König Büro in Zurich presents emerging artistic positions in Switzerland and mediates contemporary art in exhibition concepts and collection consulting services.

ABOUT US

Galerie König Büro, founded in 2020, is dedicated to contemporary Swiss art. It represents emerging talents of the national art scene; in the rooms of a former laundry in Zurich, it regularly presents solo exhibitions.

The media encompassed in the program include painting, drawing, photography, as well as sculpture, installation, and video. The focus is on works characterized by formal independence, personal authenticity, and contemporary relevance—the gallery supports artists who intensely negotiate aesthetic concepts as well as social identities and emancipatory movements.

Originally established as a company for exhibition management and art consultancy, Galerie König Büro has been managing art productions since 2013. Site-specific projects and installation concepts are among its expertise: for private clients and businesses, as well as in collaboration with interior architects and space designers.

SUSANNE KÖNIG has been leading Galerie König Büro since its inception. She is also responsible for the art projects in the new building of the University Children's Hospital Zurich by Herzog & de Meuron. After working for the Paul Klee Centre, the Kunsthaus Zürich, and Pro Helvetia Johannesburg, she served as the chairwoman for Visual Arts and Performance at the Aargau Curatorium and as a visiting lecturer at the Zurich University of the Arts in the area of Creative Economies. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Lucerne and a Master in Curatorial Studies in Zurich, and completed an Executive MBA in General Management at the University of St. Gallen.

CATRINA SONDEREGGER curates the exhibition program of Galerie König Büro. After a Bachelor in Conservation in Bern, she worked as an assistant conservator at the Swiss Federal Archives and the Cinématheque Lausanne, followed by a Master in Curatorial Studies in Zurich. She worked at the Open Art Museum in St. Gallen, the Museum zu Allerheiligen, and the Kunstzeughaus in Rapperswil-Jona as an assistant curator. Alongside positions at the Fotomuseum Winterthur, Visarte Switzerland, and as a lecturer, she founded and managed the Kunstraum Tart in Zurich until 2020.

THOMAS SPYCHER is responsible for digital communication at Galerie König Büro. After studying Industrial Design in Aarau, he spent several years as a product designer for Werner Aisslinger, Greutmann Bolzern Designstudio, and Alfredo Häberli Design Development. He later worked for the Migros Cooperative and the Lunax Swiss Photographers' Agency and continues to manage the office of the Manuela Wurch Güdel Foundation.

CAROLE KAMBLI is in charge of editorial work and stakeholder management at Galerie König Büro. She studied Pharmacy as well as Art History and Cultural Studies at the University of Basel. She completed a Master of Arts ZFH in Curatorial Studies at the Zurich University of the Arts and holds a postgraduate diploma in Cultural Management. She worked in cultural promotion for the city of Zug and was responsible for the city's art collection. Since 2011, she has been working as a freelance curator specializing in art in public spaces, sustainability, and participation.
