Project management for art-in-architecture work by Karoline Schreiber
König Büro was responsible for the project management of the art-in-architecture work "Internal Landscapes" by Karoline Schreiber, commissioned by the Baudirektion (Building Directorate) of the Canton of Zurich.
The Bern-born artist, who lives and works in Zurich, is creating six large-scale nature motifs as wall paintings for the Pfäffikon prison, depicting oversized plants from the local surroundings. She says: “I want to create something that can offer hope across cultures, languages and religions – or at least be perceived positively.”
The prison will open in May 2026, when Schreiber’s works will also be officially inaugurated. Read more in the Tages-Anzeiger article via the link in the bio.

Meet the artist! Camille Lütjens
Camille Lütjens harnesses contradiction as a driving force in her paintings, depicting climactic moments just before the turning point. Her motifs thus exist in a state of anxious or melancholic stillness; her works oscillate between surface and intimacy, suspended in a state of indecision. Lütjens’ approach is associative — she shifts between different pictorial genres, always in search of frozen tensions — and, at a young age, has already developed a distinctive engagement with the medium and discourse of contemporary painting.
Born in 2001 in San Diego, USA, Camille Lütjens currently lives and works in Zurich, Switzerland, where she received her Master's degree in Fine Arts at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK) and the ZHdK Sponsorship Award Master Fine Arts. She completed her Bachelor of Visual Arts at the Haute école d‘art et de design in Geneva, Switzerland. Lütjens will present her work in her upcoming solo exhibition at Lokal-int in Biel, Switzerland and she exhibited at the Istituto Svizzero in Milan, Italy as well as at several group exhibitions and project spaces in Zurich, Basel and Geneva. Works of Camille Lütjens are represented in the collection d’art contemporain de la Ville de Nyon, Switzerland as well as in private collections.

Meet the artist! Markus Kummer
Kummer explores the search for balance in the face of our ambivalent emotions triggered by observing the landscape — ranging from romanticized reverence for nature to primal fears of natural forces. Through his sculptures and installations, he investigates the human need for measurability, equilibrium, and stability, the desire to gain power over nature, and the longing for orientation and understanding of our environment.
Markus Kummer was born in 1974 in Zug and lives and works in Zurich. He completed his Bachelor of Design FH IN3 (Space, Object, Scenography) in 2004 at the Academy of Art and Design (HGK) in Basel and earned his Master of Fine Arts in 2011 at the University of the Arts Bern (HKB).
His works have been shown in both solo and group exhibitions, including at the Kunstmuseum Luzern, Haus für Kunst Uri, the ETH Zurich Graphic Collection, and the Kunsthaus Zug. Kummer’s works are also included in the collections of the City of Zurich, the City of Zug, the Canton of Zurich and the Canton of Zug.

Meet the artist! Xiyao Wang
Wang creates large-scale, immersive paintings in which gestural lines evoke echoes of landscapes, bodies, movements, thoughts. In the process, she develops a kind of hybrid painting that combines various influences and inspirations: Taoism and post-structuralism, ancient Chinese pictorial traditions, bodywork, dance, martial arts, and the canon of Western art history. Her paintings explore inner visions, bodily perceptions, sensations, feelings, interrogating her East-West biography.
Xiayo Wang was born in Chongqing (China) in 1992, she lives and works in Berlin (Germany). She received a BA from Sichuan Fine Art Institute in China in 2014, and a BA and MFA from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Hamburg in 2018 and 2020.
Her works have been exhibited internationally in various solo and group exhibitions at renowned museums and galleries, including Albertina Museum (Vienna), K11 Art Foundation (Hong Kong), X Museum (Beijing) and art galleries such as König Galerie, Perrotin and Tang Contemporary Art. Furthermore she continously is represented at Art Basel art fairs and Frieze art fairs.

Textile Manifestos – From Bauhaus to Soft Sculpture

Fanciful fringes vie with austere clarity, embroideries on a plane with objects crafted in the round. The variety of textile works is vast, ranging from geometrically ordered weavings in two dimensions to free forms in space. The exhibition shows anonymous pieces side by side with well-known positions such as those of Sheila Hicks and Elsi Giauque. This results in some surprising adjacencies of comparable perspectives from different periods. What all the works have in common is a powerfully creative hand and, resonating within it, a touch of magic. Quiet statements as well as the occasional activist message enhance the pulling power of these textile creations. Bound together by the softness of their materials and choice of techniques, the exhibits are interwoven in an impressive overall experience.
"Meet Me Here is my new work for the Museum für Gestaltung. It is a soft sculpture created with a tufting gun, where the front and back blend transparently into each other. Jonas Burkhalter's Exhibition "Turning Tide" at Kunsthaus Zug
We are delighted to draw your attention to the exhibition,
"Turning Tide" at Kunsthaus Zug,
from October 26, 2024, to January 5, 2025.
The exhibition Turning Tide places three artists with ties to the region at its center: Jonas Burkhalter (*1983, Zug), Claudia Kübler (*1983, Zurich), and Sara Masüger (*1978, Baar). Despite their differing approaches, they share an interest in situations where perception shifts or experiences a moment of disorientation. They engage with the fragmentary, the fragile, and the unstable, creating surprising new configurations across various media. The unconventional treatment of body, time, and space in their works challenges the viewers' imagination.
We are immensely proud to have discovered new works by the brilliant artist Jonas Burkhalter, whose solo show "Distance Black" we had the honour of exhibiting in 2021.

Olga Titus
With her unique artistic practice, Olga Titus (*1977, Winterthur) manages to make her surroundings glow and chase away the November gloom. Her works celebrate the radiance of the sun and convey a sense of warmth, cheerfulness, and a longing for distant places.
Raised in Eastern Switzerland as the daughter of a mother from Grisons and a Malaysian father of Indian descent, the artist explores hybrid cultural identities and their fluidity. Her pieces made from reversible sequin fabric can be transformed through touch, creating parallel and constantly changing universes. Titus' visual cosmos is composed of digital collages of finds from the internet as well as second-hand shops, drawing from pop culture, folklore, and personal memories. Language, music, food, advertising, religion, fashion, and design all drive her work. Dense and overwhelming landscapes emerge, which are immediately and physically accessible, yet always carry a sense of mystery.
We are happy to announce Olga Titu's solo show "Viele Sonnen" [Many Suns], running from November 9 to December 14, 2024, at the König Büro Gallery. Titus presents works that merge analog and digital worlds, open up new in-between spaces, and set our vision in motion.

Reto Steiner
Allow us to introduce you to Reto Steiner, born in 1978, who resides and creates in Frutigen, Switzerland. Trained as a stone sculptor, Reto has honed his craft at the Sigerwerk art foundry in St. Gallen and served as an assistant to Markus Raetz. He earned a Master's degree in Contemporary Arts Practice from Bern University of the Arts in 2012.
Reto Steiner's creations bridge the gap between painting and sculpture, designed to be hung, placed, or laid out. His relief works resemble artifacts from the future—messages or symbols from a yet-to-be-experienced past. These surreal forms lack real-world counterparts, evoking thoughts of organic shapes or fossils of an undiscovered species. For Reto Steiner, they are stone-carved sketches, offering a glimpse into his unique artistic vision.

Artists need other artists to challenge, inspire, and support each other.
This video exemplifies how the artistic practice of Janet Mueller and Talaya Schmid inspired Swiss fashion superstar Yannik Zamboni to create "Art On The Body," a wearable art collection featured on Heidi Klum's "Germany's Next Top Model".
Let's shine a light on this incredible creative friendship.
The first look on the runway was inspired by Janet Mueller's earlier work, "Stuhl im Schafspelz" (Chair in Sheep's Clothing), 2018. Yannik and Janet, long-time friends and artists in their own right, frequently exchange ideas, opinions, and creative energy, enriching each other's artistic practices.
Another striking look features a model wearing two framed works of art. These were crafted during a tufting workshop at Talaya Schmid's studio. Talaya, a performance artist specializing in soft sculpture, guided Yannik through the creation of these pieces. Later, they were framed and integrated into his wearable art collection. In return, Talaya will visit the Maison Blanche production studio, where Yannik will help her create a costume for her upcoming performance at the Museum für Gestaltung later this year.
Two tufted artworks on the body—crafted during the workshop at Talaya Schmid's studio—are a testament to the power of creative collaboration.
Creative friendships and artist-muse relationships have always profoundly impacted art's development. It is common in the art world to inspire, learn from each other, and share common aesthetic and emotional visions.

Claudio Rasano
The captivating beauty of Claudio Rasano’s analogue, medium-format photographs lies in the natural lighting, unpretentious visual imagery, and authentic gaze. Whether people, buildings, or landscapes, the finiteness of existence always resonates—suffusing his oeuvre with a beguiling melancholy. Atmospherically, it calls to mind Edward Hopper’s scenes, and is related formally to David Goldblatt’s pictures, but nevertheless always remains unpolitical: Rasano deals with his subject with impartial fascination.
Besides numerous other prizes, he has also been awarded the renowned Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize at the National Portrait Gallery in London. His works have been presented around the world, thus, for instance, at the Kunsthalle Basel, Les Rencontres d’Arles, the Deichtorhallen Hamburg, the Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney, and the Scottish National Gallery in Edinburgh. Claudio Rasano’s photography is represented in the Roche Art Collection Basel, Christoph Merian Foundation Basel, London Photographic Association, and Museum of African Design Johannesburg, among other institutions.

Talaya Schmidt
A sensitivity to body theory and colorful eccentricity: Talaya Schmid examines the sensual experience of art as well as sexuality and society in tufted objects, large-scale installations, and powerful performances. Her work, which is political and provocative at the same time, follows in the tradition of feminist positions like those of Lily Keller and Valie Export, Tracy Emin and Lygia Clark, and augments emancipatory movements with the topic of physical and social fluidity.
Educated at Goldsmiths University of London, Schmid has won numerous awards and scholarships, including the work grant from the Canton of Zurich. Her works have been exhibited multiple times at the Kunsthaus Zürich, as well as at Helmhaus Zürich, Haus Konstruktiv, the Industrial Art Biennale in Croatia, Documenta 14 in Kassel, and the Salon international d’art contemporain in Marseille. Talaya Schmid's work is represented in numerous private and public collections, such as the Art Collection of the City of Zurich and the Museum of Design Zurich.

Janet Mueller
The compelling paintings of Janet Mueller give rise to works that are both powerful and highly sensitive. Concrete, figurative, and typographic elements come together in a process of layering and removing paint to form an intensely personal visual language that combines surrealist automatism and neo-expressionist expression, sometimes reminiscent of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The paintings, installations, and actions address the intuitive, gestural, and process-oriented aspects of the act of painting, confronting the immediacy, imperfection, and the question of identity without compromise.
Mueller is very active in exhibiting her work: her pieces have been shown at venues such as Helmhaus Zürich, Kunstzeughaus Rapperswil, and Fundaziun Nairs Scuol, as well as in exhibitions with Lutz & Guggisberg, Eric Hattan, or huber.huber. Janet Mueller's works are part of numerous private and public art collections, including those of the City of Zurich and the Swiss National Bank.

Wir eröffnen eine Galerie für junge Schweizer Kunst. Schwerpunkt des Ausstellungsprogramms: Zeitgenössische Positionen, die durch Eigenständigkeit und Authentizität der Werke sowie das erkennbare Aufgreifen eines Zeitgeistes überzeugen.
